Originally from Leszno, Poland, Mariusz stumbled upon Big Sky during a fun-filled summer adventure in July of 2001. After a three-day trip on the Greyhound bus from New York (which actually wasn’t as bad as one might think), he arrived in Big Sky country with a smile on his face. Needless to say, he fell in love with the hospitality and the spirit of the West. With Montana on his mind, Mariusz returned to Poland to finish his Master’s in Quality Management at the University of Economics in Poznan. After graduation, Mariusz returned to Big Sky and was thereafter joined by his fiancé, Klaudia, to stake out a life in this beautiful area. The two young entrepreneurs quickly recognized an unfulfilled need of property management with an emphasis on providing the highest quality service for the finest homes and most discerning homeowners in Big Sky. Thus began High Altitude Property Management (HAPM). Married on top of Lone Peak during that same year, Mariusz and Klaudia solidified their ties to Big Sky. While building their business of top-quality property management, they also began building their family. In 2008, they welcomed a beautiful girl, Olivia, into the world and the Big Sky community.
Through relationships, hard work, and acute attention to detail, Mariusz and Klaudia have built HAPM to be the premier property management company in the area. High-end homeowners love the services and quality of HAPM as well as the family standing behind the company. Aside from running the business, Klaudia and Mariusz are avidly involved in the community. While Mariusz is creating partnerships with non-profit organizations like the Arts Council, Klaudia, who holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, is co-directing the Big Sky Community Chorus, teaching private piano lessons, and establishing community arts initiatives. Mariusz, Klaudia, Olivia and Nicolas would like to thank all the fantastic families they have met over the years for being so great.
Matt Daugherty is a fifth generation Montanan and has lived in Big Sky for the last fourteen years. He has twenty years of law enforcement experience including four years in the military. Matt has spent a majority of his career in the Big Sky area with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office; the last nine of those years he has been the supervisor for the Big Sky / West Yellowstone section. Daugherty’s experiences in this position have run the gamut, from handling security for numerous, high profile dignitary visits and large special events, to addressing major emergency situations.
Matt had his own property management business many years ago, but chose to sell it and maintain his career in law enforcement. With a background in construction and maintenance as well as security, and decades learning the ins and outs of the Big Sky community, Matt brings solid skills to our team, as well as a strong work ethic, an honest approach and great working relationships.
Matt and his family are proud to call Big Sky their home. They are involved in the community and are full-time residents. The High Altitude team is thrilled to bring Matt on board.
